happy birthday kira

It was seven years ago, the day before my birthday, when we first met.  Will she open her eyes?  I want her to see me.  I whined.  We sat there watching you, and after what seemed like an eternity, your eyes opened and I said hello.  At three days shy of two months, your luscious dark hair leaned slightly to the left in a perpetual faux hawk that rival the hippest of skaters.  I examined your fingers and toes and took deep breaths of your wonderful baby smell.  And before you left that day to be on your merry way, I whispered in your gentle ears that we would have an inseparable bond laced with rainbows, unicorns, glitter and the common ambition to annoy the crap out of your dad.

Today is your birthday and it’s hard to believe you were once a delicate bundle.  You continue to keep me on my feet with your rambunctious nature and ever evolving sense of humor.  I’m beyond blessed to have you in my life.  I love you so much.  P.S. don’t grow up so fast.
